The museum has a unique collection of modern Pakistani paintings by well-known artists of the country and a good number of Bengal School paintings. The Bengal school represents the work of masters like Abaninder Nath Tagore; Asit Kumar Haldar; Nandalal Bose; Bireswar Sen; M.H. Qadari; and Rabindra Nath Tagore. Included in the general collection are masterpieces by Amrita Sher Gill; Abdur Rehman Chughtai; Ustad Allah Baksh; Sadquain; Gulgee; Shakir Ali; Anna Molka Ahmad; Zubaida Agha; Ijaz anwar; S. Safdar Ali; Anwar Jalal Shamza; Ijaz ul Hassan; Saeed Akhtar; Mehmood ul Hassan Rumi; Aslam Kamal; Colin David; Ghulam Rasool; Hanif Ramay; Ahmad Pervaiz; Zubaida Javed; Dr. Nazir Ahmad; Iqbal Mehdi; Jamil Naqash; Salima Hashmi;Ghulam Mustafa; Zahoor ul Ikhlaq; Moen Najmi; Iqbal Hassan; and Tanveer Murshad. The collection spans the whole history of painting in Pakistan, executed in various techniques and styles.
